Ceramics coming soon

My passion for ceramics started in my childhood. My father was an avid collector of Scandinavian glassware and ceramics, collecting works by Nils Thorsson of Royal Copenhagen as well as the whimsical works of both Lisa Larson and Stig Lindberg - two of the greats to come out of Swedish ceramics company, Gustavsberg.

In recent years my curiosity in seeing how my designs translate into a more sculptural 3-dimensional form has grown from designing products made from wood and bronze, to my latest venture into ceramics. Working with clay lends well to depicting imagery, whether that’s achieved by carving or by hand-building elements or at the glazing stage. The progression from printmaking to ceramics feels like a natural step forward. A new challenge and an exciting new direction to push my work in.

As an artist curiosity is key. Creativity should be about continuous exploration, starting at the bottom rung of the ladder again and again. With this is mind I have absolutely loved acquiring new skills (and of course learning from mistakes). This past year I have been testing clay bodies best suited for my tile making; experimenting and developing a library of glazes and formulating plans for large scale art pieces.

My first collection of ceramic art pieces will be available to purchase online and in galleries later this year.
